Your Daily Giant 2/11/2014 Today's Daily Giant comes from the book Rude Stone Monuments in all Countries-Their Age and Uses by James Fergusson, 1872, pgs. 156-157. The attached pic is one of the stones that made up the Aspartia Cist. The account from England which was reported in multiple sources, reads, "In the same paper in which Mr. Rooke describes the Rose Hill Tumulus he gives an account of an excavation at a place called Aspatria, a little farther westward, and near St. Bees. They cleared away a barrow about 90 feet in diameter, and at 3 feet below the original surface of the ground found a cyst in which lay the skeleton of a man of gigantic stature. As he lay extended, he measured 7 feet from the head to the ankle. His feet were decayed and rotted off. At his side, near the shoulder-blade, was an iron sword 4 feet in length, the handle elegantly ornamented with inlaid silver flowers; a gold fibula or buckle was also found, with portions of the shield and his battle-axe. One of the most curious things found was the bit of snaffle-bridle, which is so modern looking that it would not excite interest if seen on a stall in Seven Dials. The main interest resides in its similarity to that which Stukeley found at Silbury Hill." Whatever is to be made of it, all around the world in ancient mounds and burial places, reports of seven foot and taller skeletons are reported. It is just a reality, these are not hoaxes or misidentified remains, they are clearly human remains found with human artifacts buried in human mounds, crypts and tombs. They are real places and events described and carried out by real people. The only possible explanation could be that the accurate measuring of skeletons is an amazingly difficult activity that confuses the untrained eye to miscalculate by several feet some times. While this also seems quite unlikely, I can think of no other explanation other than these are accurate reports.
